| Idea Builders Initiative is a non-profit economic development organisation that helps enterprising women and young people to utilize livelihood opportunities, enhance their personal productivity and break the cycle of poverty in Nigeria. Founded in 2003, Idea Builders operates based on the principle that the most efficient and sustainable way to transform lives is to empower people with skills and resources to help themselves. We work with local and international partners to enhance the impact of our work and create an interface between best practices and culturally applicable solutions to poverty. As our name implies, the key is creative innovation packaged into enterprise development, leadership & mentoring, skills training/transfer, and market linkage programmes. Idea Builders Initiative is implementing organic processes for economic empowerment that prioritize local aspirations, mobilize resources without fostering dependence, and is replicable across Nigeria. The success of our model -turning local ideas into powerful engines for development, demonstrates a shift in the field to favour local ownership and strategies that build on impact. |
